COUNTY OF ONSLOW PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT: Dedicated a Bench in Onslow Pines Park to the Late David Washington, Jr.

County of Onslow Parks & Recreation Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 29.

On September 1 Onslow County Parks & Recreation along with One Place dedicated a bench in Onslow Pines Park to the late David Washington, Jr, the former Parks Superintendent. The bench over looks the playground and sits alongside the Story Walk.

Washington shared his love of recreation and early childhood literacy through his work and a partnership with One Place.

Thanks to his efforts, Story Walks and Little Free Libraries were installed throughout Onslow County Parks.

Although he passed away in 2021, Washington’s legacy lives on in all of Onslow County Parks. He was a 33 year employee of the Parks & Recreation Department and left a lasting mark on our community.
