County of Onslow issued the following announcement on June 8.
Over the next two weeks the NC Department of Transportation will temporarily change traffic patterns at the US 17 / NC 24 / NC 53 Bypass and at the intersection of US 258 / NC 24 / NC 53.
Duke Energy is conducting power line installation from June 11-22 and there will be lane closures and intermittent traffic disruptions during this time. For more information read this news article from the NC DOT.

Jacksonville will host a public ceremony honoring local youth named as semifinalists for the Military Child of the Year Award on April 17. Seven students from North Carolina were selected among nationwide applicants for their achievements within military families.
The Onslow County Public Library will hold its annual Comic Book Fest on May 16 at its Jacksonville Branch location. The event features cosplay, workshops, panels and local vendors aimed at bringing together fans and fostering creativity amid ongoing educational challenges faced by area students.
Jacksonville has announced an Earth Day celebration set for April 18 at Sturgeon City. The free event features STEAM activities, live music, a craft fair, food trucks, and art contests. Community members are encouraged to attend or participate as vendors.
