FOIA Request Sent to Onslow County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Onslow County Election Department regarding the upcoming election candidates on February 5, 2025. The request was made by Onslow News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The records requested under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., include a list of all candidates running for the upcoming election. The details sought about each candidate are their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.

In addition to these details, contact information for each candidate was also requested. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization, we at Onslow News believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
