The City of Jacksonville announced on Apr. 20 that the draft Annual Action Plan for fiscal year 2026-2027 is now available for public review and comment until May 19, 2026. The plan outlines how the city will use its annual allocation of funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

This plan matters because it determines how federal funds will be distributed to support various community development programs in Jacksonville. Residents have an opportunity to review and provide input on how these resources are allocated.

For fiscal year 2026-2027, Jacksonville will receive $368,562 in entitlement funding from HUD and expects approximately $225,065 in program income. This brings the total amount available to $593,627, which will be used for eligible programs such as clearance and demolition, nonprofit funding, residential rehabilitation, acquisition, affordable housing initiatives, rental housing assistance, economic small business support programs, and program administration.

The draft plan can be reviewed during normal business hours at the Community Development Division located at City Hall on 815 New Bridge Street or online at www.jacksonvillenc.gov/NIS. All comments submitted by residents during this period will be addressed by city officials.

A public hearing regarding the Annual Action Plan is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 at 5:30 PM at City Hall during the Jacksonville City Council Meeting. The meeting can also be viewed on G10TV. For further information or to submit questions or comments about the plan or accessibility accommodations for meetings, residents are encouraged to contact Tracy Jackson with Neighborhood Improvement Services or ADA Coordinator Rose Marshburn.
