County of Onslow issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.
Thirteen Deaths, and 1,225 New Cases Since Last Monday (August 16, 2021). The County mourns all those who have been lost to COVID-19 and offers condolences to their family and friends. The current fatality count is 182.
The current count of Onslow cases is 22,484, with 20,136 cases recovered. The count of those with active COVID-19 is 2,348. In total, there were 1,225 new cases since last Monday.
The State’s positivity rate from testing is 13.1% (down 0.3% from last Monday’s 12.8%) and Onslow County’s rate is 15.7% (up 0.6% from last Monday’s 15.1%).
About 47% of the County’s population have received at least one dose of the vaccination. That is below the 53% rate for the State. Since last Thursday, it was reported that 1,451 Onslow County persons got at least one vaccination dose.
Onslow is still offering all three brands of vaccination on a walk-in basis at the Onslow County Health Department. The Pfizer vaccine has received full FDA approval today.
