Town of Swansboro issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.
The Board of Commissioners approved a new downtown traffic movement earlier in 2021 that will change the way vehicles enter the downtown along some streets.
Implementation of the new movement was delayed until after the tourist season to lessen the effects of street closures while crosswalks and parking spaces are painted on the streets. In late December street signs were installed but covered until the street painting can be completed. Weather permitting (to include temperature), the Public Works Department will begin street painting on Monday, January 10th, 2022. Street painting and dry time is expected to take 3-4 days. During that time all affected streets will be closed to traffic. A revised map of the new traffic movement is included with this notice. The only change is that Moore Street will remain one-way west of Front Street to Elm Street.
We ask for your assistance and cooperation to implement this new traffic movement. Notices will also be mailed out to those local trash services known to service the downtown area, but we will need your assistance in notifying your vendors of the street closures.
