CITY OF JACKSONVILLE: Fireworks Safety Tips

Jacksonvillefireworkssafety

City of Jacksonville issued the following announcement on June 29.

While enjoying the Indepedence Day holiday please leave the professional displays of fireworks to the professionals. Fireworks that leave the ground or explode are not legal to use at your residence per state regulation. Legal fireworks include caps, glow worms, smoke devices, party or string poppers, snappers or poppers and sparklers under NCGS 14-414.

Jacksonville Fire & Emergency Services provides these tips to help keep you and your family safe this holiday:

Leave the large displays to professionals.

Always follow directions for fireworks or sparklers. And always have an adult supervise while using sparklers. They can burn at temperatures of 2,000 degrees and cause burns.

Always have a hose or bucket of water nearby while using firework devices or sparklers and douse them in water before disposal to avoid trash fires.

Never use exploding, self-propelling or spinning fireworks.
