City of Jacksonville issued the following announcement on Sept. 29.
Mayor Sammy Phillips has declared a state of emergency to begin 5PM, September 29, 2022 due to the potential impact of Tropical Storm Ian. You may read the signed declaration with the link provided.
Mayor Phillips and Director of Public Safety, Mike Yaniero urges all Citizens to make a plan for safety during this storm event. The potential for rainfall may be significant with winds predicted at Tropical Storm Force (up to 40MPH sustained winds). Please secure your trash bins, lawn furniture or any other objects that may be damaged or cause damage due to wind and ran. There is also a potential for downed trees and debris. Please avoid downed power lines and do not drive into flooded roadways. Water can hide debris, washed out areas of roadways and it is difficult to accurately assess depth. Please, Turn Around, Don't Drown.
City Updates:
- As weather permits, the City will be open for business.
- Sanitation will pick up on Friday as weather permits
- Jacksonville Recreation will be providing Dayz out program from 7:30am – 5pm at the Commons Rec.

- Jacksonville Transit will operate on a normal schedule as weather permits.
