County of Onslow issued the following announcement on Oct. 2.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it is important to remember that early detection saves lives. This disease impacts nearly every family as 1 in 8 women in the US will receive a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.
Michelle Killian, Women’s Health Nurse Supervisor, speaks with Onslow County Today host Lisa Whitman-Grice about the women’s health services offered by the Onslow County Health Department.
The Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program is available to women who:
● Uninsured or underinsured
● Are without Medicare Part B or Medicaid
● Are between ages 40 - 64 for breast screening services and 21 - 64 for cervical screening services
● Have a household income below 250% of the federal poverty level
