COUNTY OF ONSLOW PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT: Second Christmas Tree Lighting from 2-6PM December 10, 2022

County of Onslow Parks and Recreation Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 7.

Onslow County Parks and Recreation invites the community to join them for their second Christmas Tree Lighting from 2-6PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Onslow Pines Park located at 1244 Onslow Pines Road, Jacksonville, NC. Onslow County Board of Commissioners Chairman Tim Foster will be providing opening remarks and leading the countdown to the 6PM tree lighting.

Parks and Recreation Director Katie White says Onslow County staff have worked diligently to create an even more magical Christmas experience this year. “We are very excited for this yearly opportunity to bring the community together in a special and festive way right before the holidays. Our tree has grown to 40 feet tall this year and we are looking forward to sharing this experience with Onslow County.”

This family-friendly event is free with an opportunity to sit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, drink hot cocoa, get your child's face painted, ride a trackless train, and create holiday themed crafts.

There will be local and statewide talent such as the Camp Lejeune Dance Theatre, Arbor Strings from Wilmington, NC and The Stanley Baird Jazz Group from Raleigh, NC providing entertainment. Browse and shop several local vendors. Toys for Tots will be on scene collecting unwrapped, new toy donations and each donation will receive a smores roasting packet.

Onslow County Animal Services will be on-site and available to adopt out some of their animals as well as provide information on responsible pet ownership.
