The Town of Surf City issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.
Pursuant to NC § 160A-71; The Town Council of Surf City will be holding a Special Meeting:
December 2, 2022, at 10:00AM in the Surf City Municipal Complex training room, 214 W. Florence Way, Hampstead, NC 28443.
The purpose of this meeting is discussion of the proposed Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

Hadlee Hofman, a Jacksonville High School senior, partnered with city officials to install a refillable water station as part of an environmental initiative. The project encourages reusable bottle use and will be celebrated in a ceremony on June 12.
Onslow County’s Annual Juneteenth Program will take place June 18 at the government center. The event features keynote speaker Lashae Cavers and is open to all community members.
Onslow County offices will close on June 19 for Juneteenth observances that include community events and celebrations throughout that week. Educational data show college readiness rates among local high school juniors and seniors during recent ACT testing.
