Onslow County Public Library recently issued the following announcement.
Long time Onslow County Schools educator and career and technical education proponent, Madeline Tucker, has been inducted into the East Carolina College of Education’s Educators Hall of Fame. She was one of eighteen East Carolina alumni and friends recognized for her contributions to the field of education in a ceremony held on November 9, 2019. The ECU Beta Kappa Chapter of Pi Omega Pi Business Education Honor Society and Dr. Ivan G. Wallace sponsored Mrs. Tucker for the award.
Mrs. Tucker is a proud three-time pirate having earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Education and Educational Specialist Degrees from East Carolina. She is a National Board-Certified teacher and began her career as an educator in 1990 with Onslow County Schools. She taught business education at both the middle and high school level until she assumed a leadership role in 1997, when she became the CTE technology coordinator, and in 2002 became the CTE Curriculum and Instructional Management Coordinator.
In 2008, Mrs. Tucker was named the North Carolina Business Education Member of the Year followed by being named the North Carolina Association of Career and Technical Education Outstanding Career and Technical Professional in 2009. In 2013 she was named the North Carolina Association of Career and Technical Education Instructional Management Coordinator of the Year. She has served as president for the National Business Education Association as well as membership director for this organization. She has additionally served on the Southern Business Education Association Board of Directors and as president of the North Carolina Association of Career and Technical Education Division.
Befitting the role Mrs. Madeline Tucker has played to strengthen career and technical education locally and within the State of North Carolina, the Hall of Fame plaque honoring her reads: “A dedicated lifelong learner and committed advocate for career and technical education which expands career options affecting and changing the lives of students and families.”
