County of Onslow issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
Onslow County receives the LGFCU Excellence in Innovation Award from the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners for deployment of the HealthIM first responder tool. HealthIM is designed to provide safer and better emergency response and help give appropriate care in urgent situations. Onslow County Sheriff’s Deputies and Jacksonville Police Officers were the first in the country to deploy the system for emergency response which aims to help persons suffering from mental health challenges or other crises.
The award was given at a presentation Friday, August 13, 2021 during the NCACC annual conference in Wilmington. On hand to accept the award was Onslow County Commissioner Vice-Charman Tim Foster as well as County Commissioners Royce Bennett, Mark Price, and Walter Scott. Also in attendance were Assistant County Manager Sheri Slater, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Colonel Christopher Thomas, and Information and Technology Services Director Glenn Hasteadt.
