Awrd

City of Jacksonville issued the following announcement on Mar. 21.

Kimberly Williams, Chief Human Resources Officer for the City of Jacksonville, received the Defense Community Champion Award from the Association of Defense Communities (ADC). Williams was recognized for her work helping local service members find employment when they leave the military.  She started the public-private partnership  North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME) and has worked to employ more veterans for the City of Jacksonville in her tenure. The City of Jacksonville congratulates Williams on this national recognition and appreciates her work giving back to our military community.

Williams started working for the City 10 years ago and has over 20 years experience leading human resource professionals in the private sector, public sector and nonprofit environment. She has served as a volunteer with Virginia Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, as State Director for their Employment Initiative Program and initiated the Virginia Values Veterans program, a statewide initiative to ensure employment of our military service members.

You can watch WNCT Channel 9's Women's History Month spotlight on Kimberly's work with NC4ME; where she talks about her desire to thank our service members by matching them with opportunities for meaningful employment.
